Description

Oil Checker® is a quick and straightforward tool for identifying mineral oil, alkylbenzene, and polyol ester in AC and refrigeration system lubricants.

Application

Suitable for identifying various types of refrigeration oils including mineral oil, alkylbenzene, and polyol ester in AC and refrigeration systems.

How to Use

Prepare: Prepare Vial #1 (white cap) by partially filling Vial #1 with an equal amount of test oil (5cc or approximately 180 drops) to 1/4 inch below the vial neck.

Shake: Replace cap and shake the contents for 2 to 5 seconds.

Check: If the solution is clear, the test oil is Polyol Ester, and the test is complete. If the solution is cloudy, proceed.

Prepare: If the solution is cloudy in Vial #1, prepare Vial #2 (black cap) by partially filling Vial #2 with an equal amount of test oil (5cc or approximately 180 drops) to 1/4 inch below the vial neck.

Shake: Replace cap and shake the contents for 2 to 5 seconds.

Check: If the solution is clear, the test oil is alkylbenzene. If cloudy, it indicates mineral oil.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Remove the White Cap from Vial #1.
  2. Partially fill Vial #1 (White Cap) with equal amount of Test Oil. (5cc or approximately 180 drops) to 1/4 inch below Vial Neck.
  3. Replace White Cap and Tighten Securely.
  4. Shake contents for 2 to 5 seconds. If solution is clear the test oil is Polyol Ester. GO NO FURTHER. The test is complete.
  5. If solution is cloudy in Vial #1 (White Cap), remove the cap (Black Cap) from Vial 2.
  6. Partially fill Vial (Black Cap) with equal amount of test oil (5cc or approximately 180 drops) to 1/4 inch below Vial neck.
  7. Replace Black Cap and Tighten Securely.
  8. Shake contents for 2 to 5 seconds. If the solution is clear the test oil is Alkylbenzene. If the solution is cloudy, the test oil is Mineral Oil.

Vial #1 (White Cap)

Test CLEAR = Polyol Ester

Test CLOUDY = Mineral Oil or Alkylbenzene

Vial #2 (Black Cap)

Test CLEAR = Alkylbenzene

Test CLOUDY = Mineral Oil
